About the Art
Rooted in the heart of Sitka’s Historical (Totem) Park, Two Trees captures one of the artist’s favorite sights—a pair of entwined trees standing side by side in quiet companionship. Perched on the trunk, a watchful raven surveys the magical forest around it. The vivid red growth on the bark is chicken of the woods, a striking rainforest fungus that adds an unexpected pop of color and life to the scene. Painted in rich oils, this piece evokes a sense of wonder, resilience, and reverence for the rainforest.
